JSON-LD (JavaScript Object Notation for Linked Data) is the format Google recommends for implementing schema markup. It’s added as a self-contained script block in a page’s HTML, separate from the visible content, which makes it easier to implement and maintain compared to older methods like microdata that require marking up the visible HTML directly.
Because JSON-LD sits independently in the page’s code, developers can add, update, or remove structured data without touching the actual visible design or content of the page — a significant advantage for larger, more complex websites.
Most modern SEO plugins and site builders generate JSON-LD automatically for common content types, though custom or advanced schema often still requires manual implementation.
We implement JSON-LD structured data as part of our Technical SEO work.
