Content Brief

A content brief is a planning document created before writing begins, outlining exactly what a piece of content needs to accomplish — including the target keyword and search intent, recommended structure and headings, competitor content to reference, word count guidance, internal linking opportunities, and the overall goal of the page.

Content briefs help ensure consistency and quality across a content team, particularly when multiple writers are involved, by aligning everyone around the same strategic direction before any writing takes place.

A strong content brief typically includes SERP analysis of currently ranking pages, identifying content gaps and opportunities to create something more comprehensive or useful than what’s already ranking.

Every piece of content in our Content Strategy service starts with a detailed brief like this.
