A cached page is a stored snapshot of a webpage as it appeared when Google last crawled it, historically accessible directly through search results, though Google retired the public-facing cache link feature in 2024.
While the public cache viewer is gone, Google continues to use cached snapshots internally as part of its indexing and rendering processes, even though users can no longer directly view a historical cached version through search.
Understanding this history helps explain older SEO advice that referenced checking cached versions, a diagnostic technique no longer available in the way it once was.
We use current diagnostic tools within our Technical SEO service.
