TrustRank

TrustRank is a concept, originating from academic search engine research, describing an algorithmic approach that assesses a website’s trustworthiness based on its link relationship to a curated set of known, highly trusted “seed” sites.

The core idea is that trust propagates through links similarly to how PageRank propagates authority, meaning sites closely linked to well-established, trusted sources are themselves more likely to be considered trustworthy.

While Google has never explicitly confirmed using a system called “TrustRank” by that specific name, the underlying concept of trust propagation through link relationships remains a foundational idea in how modern search algorithms likely evaluate credibility.
