Keyword Density

Keyword density is the percentage of times a target keyword appears within a piece of content relative to the total word count, once used as a primary on-page optimization metric in early SEO practice.

Modern search engines rely far more heavily on semantic understanding and topical relevance than on rigid keyword density formulas, meaning artificially repeating a keyword to hit a specific percentage generally provides little benefit and can actively harm readability.

Rather than targeting a specific keyword density figure, content should use a target keyword and its natural variations wherever it genuinely fits the writing, prioritizing clarity and comprehensiveness over mechanical repetition.

We prioritize natural, comprehensive keyword usage within our SEO Content Strategy service.
