Citation Flow is a metric developed by Majestic SEO that estimates the overall influence or link equity a website might carry, based purely on the quantity of links pointing to it, without factoring in the quality or trustworthiness of those linking sources.
Because Citation Flow measures volume rather than quality, it’s most useful when analyzed alongside Trust Flow; a large gap between high Citation Flow and low Trust Flow can be a warning sign of a manipulated or low-quality link profile.
Comparing Citation Flow and Trust Flow together provides a more complete, nuanced picture of a website’s actual link profile health than either metric alone.
We analyze link profiles holistically within our Link Building service.
